Pizza Dip

When you want something really special for a party, this tasty and tempting number is just the thing.  But I must warn you that, though made with South Beach legal ingredients, the fat content is prodigious!!  I made this last weekend for a jam session/party that I went to.  I had a very small helping with my allotment of seven Reduced Fat Triscuits. Then I filled up the rest of my plate with raw veggies and two chicken meatballs. (I would have had more meatballs but I wasn’t sure of the ingredients.)  I was very satisfied! That’s the good thing about this dip. It will fill you up fast - and give your tastebuds a big treat!   Just don’t make it at home when you don’t have company.  I’ve known a lady or two to sit on the couch and polish off the whole thing with a sleeve of crackers….  Which might explain how I got fat in the first place!

Pizza Dip

  • 1 block reduced fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 C Parmesan cheese
  • 1 C part-skim Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 C pizza sauce (make sure it has NO sugar!)
  • chopped green pepper and chopped green onions

Mix the cream cheese and the seasonings in a microwavable pie plate.  Spread evenly across the bottom. Top with half the Parmesan and half the Mozzarella.  Now spread the pizza sauce evenly across that.  Sprinkle on the rest of the cheese.  Garnish with the peppers and onions.  Cover with Saran wrap.  Right before serving, microwave for about 4 minutes until it’s all “warm and squdgy” (this is a highly technical cooking term frequently employed by me and my buddy Katherine). Serve with crackers or chips or breadsticks or toasted pita triangles…
